What you would be working on
The Black Dollar app maps local businesses and rates each one green, yellow or red so a shopper can tell, in about three seconds, who has earned the dollar they are about to spend. Behind that simple screen sits a verification pipeline, a ratings system that has to resist abuse, a business directory that has to stay accurate in dozens of cities, and a members network for the entrepreneurs on the other side of the counter.
That is the work. It is not an abstraction about culture - it is data quality, mobile engineering, field organizing and customer trust, applied to a problem nobody else has bothered to solve properly.
The kinds of people we need
Mobile and backend engineers who can work on a real production app - React Native and Capacitor on the front, PHP and MySQL services behind it - and who care that the map loads fast on an old phone on a bad connection.
Business verification and directory operations. Every listing in the Black Dollar app has to be checked and kept current. This is the least glamorous and most important job in the company, because a directory nobody trusts is worth nothing.
Community organizers and field partnerships who can sign up merchants city by city, work with Black chambers and business associations, and explain the stoplight system to an owner who has never heard of us.
Content, support and design - the people who answer a member at nine at night, write the copy that does not sound like a brochure, and make the app feel like it was built by someone who shops the way our users shop.
